Inaugural Vegas PBS 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk

Vegas PBS is pleased to announce the Inaugural 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk supporting Keeping Kids Fit. Vegas PBS will hold the run on October 9, 2010 at the Vegas PBS Educational Technology Campus.

Vegas PBS invites you to sponsor its inaugural 5K run and 1 mile walk. The event will benefit Vegas PBS’ Keeping Kids Fit Program. Vegas PBS, working with many local and national partners, has a new dynamic, long-term project addressing childhood obesity.

This run is walker-friendly. Enjoy entertainment and the appearance of favorite Vegas PBS costumed characters. Post-race refreshments will be provided. Awards will be given to the top finishers in each age division.

Movies in the Square is a family friendly movie series featuring G and PG movies for all ages. All movies are FREE to the public and shown on a 25 ft. x 35 ft. screen in Town Square Park. The main feature begins at sundown from May-August on the first and third Thursdays of each month. Seating is first available and children must be accompanied by an adult. Town Square and LVMPD South Central Command will host the “27th Annual National Night Out“, a unique crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch. Join us for live music, free food from Town Square Restaurants and activities for kids on Tuesday, August 3 from 5pm-9pm. The community centric event will featuring law enforcement agencies, civic groups, neighborhood organizations and local officials coming together to:

· Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness;

* Generate support for, and participation in, local anticrime programs;
* Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships; and
* Send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

The Village at Lake Las Vegas
The Village Las Vegas hosts a full day of festivities for the whole family to celebrate Independence Day, including face painting, a balloon artist, coloring contest and much more.

Henderson
The City of Henderson’s Fourth of July celebration will be a star-spangled evening with a variety of family-friendly events, live entertainment and a fabulous fireworks show on Sunday, July 4 from 6 p.m.-9 p.m. at the Basic High School football field, 400 N. Palo Verde Drive. Fireworks will begin at 9 p.m. Admission is free but some activities may require paid admission.

Station Casinos fireworks
Continuing its 4th of July tradition, five Station Casinos’ properties will host the largest 4th of July fireworks show in Southern Nevada on Sunday, July 4 around 8:45 p.m. for the entire community to enjoy. The nine-minute fireworks show, named “Station Casinos’ 4th of July Blast” will be in celebration of the nation’s 234th birthday and will be featured at Aliante Station, Green Valley Ranch resort, Fiesta Rancho and Texas Station as a shared location and Red Rock Resort.

Clark County Pools
Residents can enjoy free swimming at all pools and water parks from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 4. Laughlin Water Park and Overton Pool will be open from noon to 4 p.m. Indian Springs is open from 1 to 5 p.m.

Clark County Shooting Park
All Active Duty, Retired, Reserves and National Guard members of the US military can enjoy a complementary round of trap or skeet at the shooting park at 11357 North Decatur Blvd.
