Margaritaville Las Vegas Reclaimed the Guinness World Record for The Largest Margarita Ever Made

On Oct. 14th at 5 O’clock in the evening Margaritaville broke the World Record for the largest margarita ever made as verified by Guinness World Records. The event was part of the Grand Opening festivities for the new Margaritaville Casinoat Flamingo in Las Vegas.

Halfway through the ceremony celebrating the new World Record, Jimmy Buffett surprised fans by coming out and raising a glass of Lucky Rita with the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team along with Flamingo’s Rick Mazer and Margaritaville’s Tamara Baldanza in front of more than 1,000 Parrotheads and onlookers.

“Much appreciation for these great wounded warriors, who I’ve worked with for a long time. Gentleman, thank you for coming out. We’re going to have a good time this weekend. Let the FIN begin,” said Buffett.

Lucky Rita is now on sale to the public allowing guests a taste of history and an opportunity to contribute to a great cause. For every gallon of Lucky Rita sold, Margaritaville will donate $5 to the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Team. More than a margarita, Lucky Rita is a concoction with a cause.

“I am thrilled we have expanded our relationship with Margaritaville,” said Rick Mazer president of Flamingo Las Vegas, “and now together we have opened the first-ever Margaritaville Casino.”

After six months of planning, the mixing of the colossal 8,500 gallon beverage, appropriately named “Lucky Rita”, began its first pour on Oct. 11, 2011. Lucky Rita took an estimated 300 work hours to mix the concoction.

ARIA Resort & Casino Announces Tickets on Sale for 11th Annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational Golf Tournament

The 11th Annual Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational (MJCI), hosted by ARIA Resort & Casino at Shadow Creek, returns to Las Vegas for the second consecutive year March 29-April 1, 2012.  Tickets are now on sale for one of celebrity golf’s most popular events, giving fans the opportunity to watch four days of competition with some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment.

The MJCI two-person, 36-hole scramble format tournament begins Saturday, March 31 and includes only the competing celebrities.  The second and final round of the MJCI will be played Sunday, April 1.  Additional festivities and special events surrounding the Saturday and Sunday competition, as well as celebrity participants, will be announced in the near future.

Dennis Rodman’s induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2011 will cap the stellar career of the one of the greatest defenders in NBA basketball history. Rodman is the first NBA player to win five championships with two different teams, the Detroit Pistons (1989, 1990) and the Chicago Bulls (1996, 1997 and 1998). Second Trial in the Largest Hepatitis C Outbreak in U.S. Begins

Jury selection in the second trial in the largest hepatitis C outbreak in U.S. history has begun in Clark County, Nevada. The Nevada Supreme Court lifted the stay allowing the case to go to trial when it was determined by the court that nurse David Hambrick, a witness for the defense Teva Inc. and Baxter Inc., “does not possess the requisite skill, knowledge or experience to testify as an expert witness regarding the medical cause of hepatitis C transmission at the Endoscopy Clinic of Southern Nevada,” and that the defendants must have qualified, competent expert testimony given to a reasonable degree of medical probability for their alternative causation theory.

Plaintiff Anne Arnold was exposed to the virus hepatitis C when a contaminated jumbo 50mL infusion vial of the anesthesia medication Propofol was reused during a colonoscopy procedure at the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada on July 13, 2007. 50mL infusion vials of Propofol are meant for long tern sedation of patients, not short outpatient procedures like colonoscopies. Arnold was later diagnosed as having contracted hepatitis C. The lawsuit filed by Mainor Eglet alleges design defect, breach of implied warranty for a particular purpose, failure to properly warn by sending a Dear Health Care Professional letter and duty to monitor.

In the complaint filed in Clark County District Court by Mainor Eglet Law Firm attorneys Robert Eglet, Robert Adams and Artemus Ham on behalf of plaintiffs Anne Arnold and spouse James Arnold — the defendants Teva Parenteral Medicines, Inc.; SICOR Inc. and Baxter Healthcare Corporation — are each responsible in some manner for causing injury and damages to the plaintiffs.

“There are two primary issues in the Arnold case: the multi-dosing of Propofol between patients from 50mL jumbo infusion vials not intended for short medical procedures like colonoscopies, and the labels on the vials of Propofol provided inadequate warnings about intended use. Teva and Baxter were responsible for providing 50mL infusion vials of Propofol to the Endoscopy centers because profit dictated the decision to do so. Teva and Baxter’s attempt to place the blame exclusively on the health care professionals is a complete disregard for the lives of thousands of Nevadans and their families. Drug companies are not allowed to put profit over patient safety,” says Robert Eglet.

Celebrity Judges Announced for Vegas Spin-Off DJ Contest

Las Vegas has teamed up with world-renowned disc jockeys and music industry heavyweights to unearth and support new electronic music talent. The superstar panel includes LMFAO, DJ VICE, Markus Schulzand Sol Shafer.

Sponsored by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA), the Vegas Spin-Off contest seeks the latest electronic music prodigy whose passion for beats and rhythm translates to the turntables. The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas brings world-renowned artist deadmau5 to The Chelsea for two unique shows over Labor Day weekend, Friday, September 2 and Saturday, September 3.
